- Because only some of your working hours are billable. Admin, cleaning, marketing, and no-shows are unpaid, so your billable hours have to carry the whole week.
- How many billable hours is realistic?
- Most solo beauty pros bill 20–28 hours in a 40-hour week. If you plan on 40 billable hours you will end up underpricing every service.
- Should I include taxes in my hourly rate?
- Yes. Self-employment plus income tax typically takes 25–30% of profit, so build it into the rate instead of hoping it's left over in April.
